Suction Dredging

Suction Dredging, also referred to as Hydraulic Dredging, is a method of removing sediment and muck from ponds, lakes, and other areas with underwater buildup. It is a method employed for homeowners with ponds that would like to restore them back to their original depths. It is also used for sections of lakes that have accumulated mud, detention basins and municipal drainage basins that have accumulated sediment.

One of the main advantages to Hydraulic Dredging is that it allows us to remove the muck in a way which is much less invasive to the environment and wildlife than traditional methods.

The method of suction dredging relies on pumping the muck, mud, or sediment in slurry form (mixed with water) out of the pond and into Geotextile dewatering tubes. These tubes are semi-permeable, allowing for the water to escape but retaining the sediment inside. The water is then guided back to the body of water. When the project is completed the material in the tube is removed.

Suction Dredging provides us the capability to access areas that cannot be reached with conventional heavy equipment. Our equipment is easily portable and the system has minimal impact on the surrounding areas. The scope of the project can vary from small spot dredging to much larger sediment removal projects as we have several pieces of equipment that allow our company to service everything from small garden ponds to entire sections of lakes.

We understand that obtaining the required permits for dredging your property can be tedious and a bit overwhelming. We can assist you in every step of the way – from filing the request to attending meetings on your behalf. Dredging is a process, and we pride ourselves on the relationships built with not only our clients but the towns they live in as well.

This project consisted of cattail removal and a partial dredging of a private pond.
